New Fantasia

The series New Fantasia are paintings in which I overlap Disney cartoon scenes with arid-looking newspaper photographs. This project originates in my childhood memory of seeing Disney cartoon images in TV and at the same time, seeing the reflection of real surroundings on the glass screen of a living room TV. From one of this series Heil (2009)', the Wendy character in 'Peter Pan' poses her right arm in a Nazilike salute. I tried to find similar transpositions in the substitution of media characters with icons of violence. I have tried to represent the irony of the polarities of certain situations and the confusion caused by mass media.
